AWRAD’s Roundtables:
PM Fayyad/Leaders engage in a serious dialogue on the current crisis, protest and local election

In a room packed with interested officials, MPs, political leaders, youth and women leaders and representatives of civil society, AWRAD facilitated a constructive-objective dialogue on the ongoing crisis as manifested in wide protest in the various regions of the West Bank. The participants analyzed the causes of the crisis and proposed specific actions to remedy the situation. The conduct of local elections was viewed as a key component in the promotion of legitimacy, representation and effective service delivery. PM Fayyad applauded the roundtable as a means to hold the government accountable by the people given the weak oversight role played by the parliament. The participants recommended the continuation of such dialogue in the various regions and among all relevant social groups. AWRAD plans to continue the organization of such roundtables in the coming future.
